The snake turns 90 degrees at a time (never straight back). Up to two turns are remembered ahead and taken in order on the next beats.
Rules
- A 20 × 20 field; the snake starts three cells long and there is one piece of food at a time
- Eating makes the snake one cell longer and a new piece of food appears on a free cell
- Classic: hitting the wall or your own body ends the run
- Wrap-around: leave on one side and come back on the other; only your own body ends the run
- A run lasts at most 10 minutes, then it ends and counts as it stands · you can also end it yourself with "End run" and the score still counts
Speed and scoring
- The snake starts at about 6.7 cells per second; every 4 foods it speeds up one level, up to level 6 (20 cells per second)
- Each food is worth 10 points plus 5 per speed level: level 0 = 10, level 1 = 15 … level 6 = 40 points
- The leaderboard ranks by score; on a tie the earlier run comes first
The leaderboard
After a run, enter a name (2-20 characters) and a country. The score joins the world leaderboard and your country's; the best run of each name is shown. The server replays the inputs of every run before it counts, and a run whose replay does not match never appears.
Tips
- Sweep the field in rows like a plough and there is always room to turn
- With a long snake, look at the tail before turning: a tail that is moving away opens a cell just in time
- In wrap-around mode the edges are a shortcut to food on the far side
